Both are right. It depends on the operating system.

With xp it will save them in the program files/guild wars/templates

In Vista/7 it will save them in documents/Guild Wars/templates

on linux and osx I has no clue

As you can see, it depends on your OS. I would recommend sorting your builds into file folders to help make your build searches easier.

Easy method for finding where the folder is located
1. save a build ( even if 1 skill ) and name it say FINDME
2. use windows search for FINDME

that will locate the folder.
If you want sub folders - Sin , Monk etc then in that folder just create a new folder for each you want.Ingame when you now select load or save build the new folders will show and you can enter or exit them with no problems.Folders really do make things easier to find as well if you have loads of different builds - i tend to have a folder for each profession and a folder for team/hero builds.

Btw for those who are curious - the template file consists of filename - eg FINDME.txt and when opened it contains only the template code eg xcds32edsddse333

If you are on Vista/7, You can just open your library, go to Documents, Guildwars, Templates, Skills.

I get a little more complicated for my build folders.

First there are the PvE & PvP folders. Then inside each of them is the usage folders.

Under PvE is found General, Farming, Running, Hero, Team. Then inside those folders are the profession folders. The Team folder contains folders for the different purposes, such as UW, Slaver's, ArkFenway, FoW, Discord 6 Heroes, etc.

Under PvP is found AB, CM, GvG, RA, CA. Then inside those are the profession folders.

It is time consuming to set up (especially if you already have a lot of randomly saved builds), but makes finding the build you want very easy.

We won't discuss the condition of my storage or the problems with rummaging through 12 characters (including two mules) for a particular item.

That folder setup was a download from Community Works. Some very nice guru member shared his setup which included a bunch of PvX builds and I have just maintained it ever since.

Is it bad that I remember that thread?

After that I organized my templates a little bit. Had a section for fun builds a section for effective and a section for outdated (nerfed and such) builds each with a sub section for profession....then bad things happened xD

1. Press "k," or open your skills window.
2. Click the blue icon for templates.
3. Click "Manage Templates," and the path to your templates directory will be displayed.
